Rowing Machine Exercise - An Upper Body Workout With All of the Cardiovascular Benefits
If you have a limited amount of time to dedicate to exercise, there is very little that can top the effectiveness of the exercise done on a rowing machine. Rowing machine exercise can easily take place in a fitness center or in the comfort of your own home. Independent of whether the machine you opt for is a water rower or of the air variety, the health benefits are incredible. Do a little investigating and comparing and find out for yourself just how effective this upper body workout can be.
Many people struggle to find the right combination of exercises to complete a workout that combines both elements of cardiovascular and strength. The exercise that you do on a rowing machine takes care of that in one fell swoop. The average gym member may spend an hour fiddling around with weights and another thirty minutes trying to do some cardiovascular conditioning. The rowing machine, on the other hand, eliminates all the unnecessary jumping around.
If you haven't done a rowing workout, or have only used the clunky older machines, you should really give some of the newer models a try before you dismiss the possibility. One of the more popular models is the Concept 2 machine. This machine does an incredible job of simulating the physical body movement that takes place in an actual scull or classic row boat. You can really feel the heart racing while you are getting an intense workout that requires the use of back, arms, shoulders and legs.
There are plenty of other models that are used with regularity in professional fitness settings. Tunturi, Kettler and Lifecore are just a few of the brands that you might do some research on before committing to a specific rower. Make sure you test out anything for some length of time to see how your body reacts to the mechanism.
An additional advantage to doing exercise with a rowing machine is that you can easily do it in the confines of your own home. Use it as a complement to your gym visits or eliminate your gym dues altogether if time and money are an issue. Most of the commercial versions are light and easy to move when not in use. Furthermore, almost all of the rowers take up very little space.
A new commercial rowing machine may cost you close to ,000, but you will find that it is well worth the investment. For better prices, take a look at the used equipment market or internet classifieds. The only drawback to the second hand rowers is that you will be out of luck in the warranty department. Again, test everything out thoroughly before making a purchase.
Don't make working out more complicated than it needs to be. For simple, one-stop strength and conditioning do your exercise on a rowing machine.
